**Crock the Pot update** Dinner was AH - MAZ - ING! And we are still enjoying the leftovers, mmmmmm yum.
I have been so super excited ever since we moved into our new place together, to get to decorated and arrange just how I (ok we) want! I've always had wonderful roommates in the past with great style, but there's just something about putting together your own home that makes it really special :)

So the day after we came home from our honeymoon, Paul was feeling really ambitious and decided we should head out on a quest for a desk. We have a really obvious spot for it in our apartment, and I was dreaming of a long workspace where we could sit side by side :) We ventured to Ikea (NOT the best idea on Labor Day! But luckily we were still on our honeymoon high and didn't mind the 45 min wait in line), because I had seen an idea for a desk on one of my favorite design blogs, little green notebook. We bought two desk tops:
and we got 6 legs (instead of 8 for two desks):
When we got home, Paul busted out the new power drill I had gotten him as a wedding gift and we went to work! First we had to adjust the holes that Ikea had marked, because our goal was to make one long desk instead of two desks next to each other. Thankfully, my husband is very skilled and handy and he figured this all out for me :)
Next we drilled in the legs.
and made sure to center the legs over the crack so they would support the desk well:
Wah la! Our dream desk!
I'm on the left and PDS is on the right. He takes his computer to work though :)
Hubs had requested that I make some sort of covering in the back to hide all the cords. I agree, but just can't think of exactly the right solution... a fabric draping? Any suggestions?
In other news, remember the blog I mentioned earlier?! Well Jenny is doing an AWESOME giveaway of her favorite things. It ends today so you should totally enter here:
I'm going for the Gem Robert Abbey lamp :) But it was a really hard pick!!
Hope you all have a happy Friday!
love it! (the post-honeymoon high and all ;) my first thought is peg-board material (is that the right name?) like you might see in a workshop or Julia Child's kitchen. Funky and perhaps functional... although I can't imagine what you might want to hang near your knees ;)
