My Revised Christmas List

Ever since I moved out of my parents house my idea of a Christmas Wish List has changed drastically. It went from:

cute Anthro stuff, new sweaters, an ipod touch, tall camel colored boots, sbux gift cards and money for new fonts

to...

conditioner, lotion, socks, a razer, trader joes gift cards, a humidifier, and money for new unmentionables.

sigh. I suppose this is the reality of life! Paul and I were talking the other day about how we used to think it was so lame when our dads would ask for things like work gloves, undershirts and running socks, but now we totally understand and hope that we will find equally mundane but necessary items under the tree this year! (Paul's list is similar to mine... scissors and a thermometer...)

But even as I was mentally "looking" around the house and taking inventory of things I need but don't necessarily have the budget for, I found a book through a friend's blog that I think my heart and my soul need.

"A dare to live fully right where you are" wow. Even just the headline gets me. One of my biggest struggles right now is looking ahead and wishing for the future. "When I finish school... when Paul gets a job... when we can get married... when I have my own home... when the weather gets warmer..." This mindset tends to hurt not only my view of the here and now, but also the people closest to me. Because when you're looking ahead so much, the people around you right now feel neglected and uncared for. Yikes.

Anyways, I am officially adding this book to my Christmas List. And I am praying for the grace to live fully right where I am.

have a great & blessed sunday mariel- i pray that we would both rest in Christ, be content with the seasons the Lord has ordained, and rejoice knowing He is good.
