Flowers and Finds

Hello all! I don't know about you, but I woke up to a winter wonderland this morning! PDS informed me that most of the country is white today, so chances are you also looked out your window and felt like you were in the middle of a snow globe too :) I'm about to head out for round one of shoveling (ahh the joys of renting a house!) but before I do I wanted to tell you all what I've been up to.

First I'll brag about the sweetest boyfriend around - mine! (Ok, I know I'm biased...) But the other day he heard me whimper about how I wiiiiish SPRING would come. And so the next day he showed up at my door with these! :::

He said he thought they would bring a little bit of spring to me early, and boy do they ever!

Alright, getting back on track.  Look what I found when I was in North Carolina?! Our friends introduced me to this awesome place in Durham's art district called "The Scrap Exchange" It's basically like 5 huge rooms full of old scraps - buckets of bottle caps, buttons, fabric, ribbons, matchbooks, magazines, old maps, frames... seriously, anything. I went a little crazy (but not too crazy. please I'm on a student budget here) and got some sweet goodies. But, I found this sweet vintage suitcase that I got for a steal! I know it's a little old and dirty, but I'm planning to wipe out the inside and clean up the mirror a bit and I think it'll be just perfect! I am obsessed with the aqua colored velvet inside and I still get all googly eyed when I see it sitting in my room :)

And finally...

Two nights ago I decided to try a flower tutorial from jones design company and I am so pleased with how it turned out! It's really easy and I think it makes a really unique looking flower pin... or clip... or headband... or whatever you would like it to be!

My sweet new roomie let me take some of her buttons for the center!  Speaking of my new roommate, Check out Katie's blog - she's an adorable dear girl and an amazing designer!
