This is my last week of break before I head back to school next week. It's been nice to have a few weeks off to travel, rest and create, but I'm feeling ready to jump back into classes! But before I do, I had a couple projects I had been meaning to try before I get busy again. I have been seeing a lot of "book art" on different style blogs and since it's a lovely and inexpensive way to make some lovely new pieces, I decided to give it a whirl! Here's how it went:
First I chose 2 books with different colored pages to cut from.
Then I arranged them on my canvas so that they would overlap and reach around the edges {and so that I liked the patterns they made :)}
Then I used my trusty Mod Podge to secure each page down and paint a sealant layer on top.
When I was finished sealing them down, my canvas looked like this:
Next I Mod Podged the ends around the sides of the canvas and sealed them on to the back side.
Once that was finished and dried, I decided to add my own touch in honor of Valentines Day. So I used some tissue paper to draw and cut out a large heart shape.
Once I placed the heart and wrapped it's edges, I just had to wait for it to dry!
Later I added a lace ribbon border to my heart and tada! Here I am with my finished piece!
I have many more ideas for my book art too :) This project was so fun to make and I think the possibilities are endless!
book art... so smart. my current project is something similar - only it's mod podge'ing pages to a lampshade! i'll send you the finished product :) this post inspires me!
