One Hot Weekend

Literally. It was HOT! Up until now, it's been warm, but this weekend we were 112 and over so it was my first taste of a real Arizona summer. Yowza! I hear it gets worse. For now though, it's still nice in the mornings and evenings as well as in the shade (we at dinner outside in the shade tonight).

We still managed to have a sweet, relaxing weekend. Friday night we went out to Benihana's to celebrate Paul's birthday! We both love hibachi, so it was a fun treat. We also went to the movies and saw Marvel's The Avengers. We prepared last week by checking out Thor and Captain America from the library, so I think I enjoyed it more having the background stories on those characters. And this afternoon after church and a trip to the grocery store, we watched Courageous, which was my pick. It was such a sweet movie, if you haven't seen it I highly recommend it.

So it seems that during our harsh summers here, we'll pass the time the same way we did in the harsh Illinois winters – with movies, books and indoor entertainment.

Oh, and to cap off the weekend with a cherry on top, I got to video chat with my precious friend, Brittany. What a treat! Thankful for another refreshing weekend :)
